Mastermind

Objective

The computer hides a secret row of coloured pegs. Guess the code before you run out of rows. This is the board game Mastermind, not the TV quiz.

Key pegs

• Black — right colour in the right place.
• White — right colour in the wrong place.
• Blacks are counted first. Remaining colours that still match become whites. Extra copies of a colour do not score extra pegs.
• Key pegs are not lined up with your guess — they only tell you the counts.

Controls

• Tap a hole, then a colour, or tap colours to fill left to right.
• Tap a placed peg to remove it. Undo and Clear work on the current row only.
• Keys 1–6 (or 1–8 on Hard) pick colours. Enter submits. Backspace undoes.

Difficulty

• Easy: 4 pegs, 6 colours, 10 guesses — no duplicate colours in the code (or in a guess).
• Classic: 4 pegs, 6 colours, 10 guesses — duplicates allowed.
• Hard: 5 pegs, 8 colours, 8 guesses — Super Mastermind rules, duplicates allowed.

Daily challenge

Everyone receives the same seeded Classic code. It resets at midnight UK. The first finish of the day counts for the league and your streak.
