Number Merging

Objective

Slide the grid so matching numbers combine. Each merge is a power of 2: 2 + 2 = 4, 4 + 4 = 8, and so on, until you reach the target tile (classically 2048).

Rules

• Every tile slides as far as it can in the chosen direction.
• Two equal tiles merge once per turn into their sum. A newly merged tile cannot merge again until the next slide. So 2, 2, 2, 2 becomes 4, 4 — not 8.
• After a successful slide, a new 2 (about 9 times out of 10) or 4 appears in a random empty cell.
• Score increases by the value of each merge (merging two 8s adds 16).
• Reach the target to win — you may Continue for a higher score. The game ends when no slide is possible.

Controls

• Arrows or WASD to slide.
• Swipe on a touch screen.
• Undo takes back the last slide (one step).

Modes

• Classic: 4×4 grid, target 2048.
• Mini / Wide: 3×3 or 5×5. Target 1024, 2048, or 4096.
• Daily: everyone starts from the same seeded 4×4 board at midnight UK. Later tiles follow a seeded random sequence, so identical slides produce identical spawns.
