Objective
Each round has five real places, but you are not told the names first. Solve the latitude and longitude clues on the grid. Lock those solutions to unlock an unlabelled outline of the region, drop a pin on the place, then lock the pin to fade in the true map.
Coordinates
- Some values are missing. Others are a calculation or an equation to solve for x.
- North and east are positive. South and west are negative.
- On the grid, x is longitude and y is latitude.
Scoring (100 points per pin)
- 100 within 1 km
- 90 within 5 km
- 80 within 10 km
- 70 within 25 km
- 55 within 50 km
- 40 within 100 km
- 25 within 250 km
- Then 15, 8 or 3 for longer misses
A round is a win at 200/500 or more. After the map fades in we name the place, show the compass bearing from your pin, and the driving distance from Google Maps when that API is available.
Modes
- Easy uses a blank outline of Britain and Ireland.
- Classic uses an unlabelled outline of Europe.
- Hard uses a blank world outline.
Daily challenge
Everyone receives the same five Classic places. They reset at midnight UK. The first win of the day counts for the league and your streak.
