This guide walks through every major part of Maths Vault: where to find resources, what each app or tool produces, and the best workflow for planning lessons, generating materials, presenting in class, setting homework, and tracking usage. Use it as your central reference whenever you are learning a new area of the site.

Quick Start by User Type

Classroom teacher: Start at /index.php, then use Vault Viewer for presentation building and Homework for assignment creation.
Cover/non-specialist teacher: Use Elements → Cover: Sorted! and /free/?resource=cover-lessons-20 for ready-to-run packs.
Head of department/manager: Use /user/settings.php for account controls, school management options, and PowerPoint defaults.
Student use in class: Use On Screen tools (timer, whiteboard, displays) and optionally apps/student where enabled.

Vault Viewer and Presentations

Location: /apps/vault-viewer/index.php

Enter a topic, optionally enable White Rose alignment, then search linked resources.
Select resources to include and create a presentation in three guided steps.
Use My Presentations and View All Resources for organisation.
Bulk generation can create multiple White Rose small-step presentations from one setup.
Presentation actions include launch, planner add, and sharing.

Best use: your lesson assembly hub when you want one coherent sequence instead of separate resource files.

Detailed workflow: Vault Viewer lesson build

Required path

Open /apps/vault-viewer/index.php and enter your lesson topic.
Enable White Rose alignment if needed, then choose year/term/block/small step.
Select whether to auto-generate missing resources and whether lower ability mode is needed.
Click Search Resources, review results, and choose the resources to include.
Click Create Presentation, then use the ready-state actions: launch, share, add to planner, or create new.
Use /apps/vault-viewer/presentations.php for long-term organisation and re-launch.

Output checklist

One saved presentation with linked resources.
A presentable launch route for class display.
Optional planner entry for timetable integration.

Generate starter set and review question suitability.

Troubleshooting and Best Practice

If an app view looks empty, check list pages first (many tools separate create/list/display).
If a display route is needed, use the dedicated display.php endpoints rather than generator pages.
For PowerPoint or presentation consistency, set defaults in /user/settings.php first.
If Google Classroom posting fails, reconnect integration from dashboard/settings.
Use /sitemap-html.php for a full human-readable page index.

Access note: certain features are account-tier or role dependent (for example admin routes, beta tools, and selected preview tools). If a link is not visible in your menu, it is usually a permissions or rollout setting rather than a fault.
